Aerial Yoga combines traditional mat yoga with postures suspended in soft fabric hammocks. With the help of gravity and the hammocks, we can playfully explore floating, fluid movements and create space in our bodies without compressing our joints and spine. With practice, the feeling in the body is exquisite.

At Cary Hot Yoga, each of our hammock unit is designed to hold 3000lbs/1360 kilos dynamic load.

Aerial Yoga is a wonderful complement to your mat practice. It unwinds fascia knots and tangles, quiets the mind, builds core-strength, and leaves your body feeling integrated. The basic yoga principles of Ahimsa (non-harm) and mindfulness are woven throughout the sequences. The hammock, like other props in yoga, is intended to assist alignment and deepen your awareness. The fabric becomes a learning tool and students often find “Aha!” moments that bring new life and understanding to poses they previously feared or fought to achieve. In our classes we will alternate between practicing with the hammock and practicing on the mat to play with gravity in different ways and to stay energetically grounded.

For all Aerial Yoga classes, wear long pants and long sleeves. No Jewelry please.

Clothing & Etiquette


Cary Hot Yoga offers authentic yoga with the support of a soft aerial fabric hammock. In the Beginner Aerial Yoga class, we work with gravity to relax and realign the body, center the mind and uplift the spirit. Newcomers learn practical postural fundamentals while discovering how yoga enlightens your life.
We recommend taking the Aerial Yoga Fundamental and Beyond workshop to familiarize yourself with all basic postures on the hammock prior to taking this class (but not require)


A beginner aerial yoga class for the entire family. Have fun learning how to practice yoga with hammock fabric. This is a one hour of pure fun! Learning how to practice your on and off the hammock. No prior experience is require. Wear long pants and long sleeves. No Jewelry please.


In this class you will float through a series of luxurious supported poses with the aerial hammock positioned about a foot off the floor. Drift quietly for several minutes as the gentle positions facilitate deep release in the physical and energetic body. Classes will end with a long period of cocooned savasana where you’ll be gently suspended in air, surrounded by soothing music, and maybe even tucked in with a blanket.


Discover an expressive and playful way to work out on “silk” hammocks. Elevate your heart rate in a playful way and deepen your body connection through dynamic movement, hammock tricks, and conditioning. Develop arm and core strength, coordination, and grace. You must have a minimum of 6 Beginner Aerial Yoga class prior to taking this Aerial Play.
