AUGUST ENEWS – YOGA FOR A BETTER LIFE
Just about everyone who practices yoga has been touched in some way by its trans-formative power. Maybe you simply feel better in your body. Perhaps you’ve experienced more profound changes in your life, relationships, and worldview. These changes often take place subtle and over time and sometimes can be hard to pinpoint. It is more accurate to say that yoga helps you remove the obstacles that obscure who you really are, that it helps you come into a fuller expression of your true nature.
Health is not a mere absence of disease. It is a dynamic expression of life – in terms of how joyful, loving and enthusiastic you are. This is where yoga helps: Postures, pranayama and medication are holistic fitness package.
Even with a busy life, finding a way to practice 3 or more classes per week is an investment in yourself. When taking 1 or 2 classes a month, it’s almost like starting over each time you take a class. By increasing it to 2, 3 or more per week, there is a cumulative effect and you start to feel yourself going to another level of consciousness. When you make that commitment to yoga, profound positive changes will occur physically, mentally, and spiritually. You will lose excess weight, tone your body, not get sick as often, improve your outlook on life, and relax your relationship with reality.

A few changes are made to August’s schedule. Based on your feedback, we move a few classes around to better fit the majority of our students. Here are changes high lines:
1. Move our Hot Pilates class on Wednesday from 5PM to 5:15PM.
2. Move our early bird Wednesday morning to Thursday 6AM
3. Saturday 8AM – new class format: AVANT YOGA – interchange different classes every week: Sunrise Ashtanga, Bikram Intermediate, Classic 84
4. Saturday 12PM Aerial Yoga : interchange difference classes every week: Spinal Decompression, Family Aerial, Intermediate Flow
NEW TEACHER FOR INFERNO HOT PILATES
We have a wonderful new teacher this month! Born and raised in New York, Christina is new to North Carolina and excited to join the community! After completing her Master’s in New York City, Christina moved to Raleigh after accepting a job as a school counselor. Besides being passionate for both yoga and fitness, Christina is also very passionate about mental health awareness. She cites both yoga and Inferno Hot Pilates as vital in her self-care toolkit!
We are excited to welcome Christina to CHY. Come take her Inferno Hot Pilates class every Wednesday from 5:15PM to 6:15PM.
This challenging full body, low impact, fat burning, high intensity workout is performed on a yoga mat & towel in a room heated to 95 degrees and 40% humidity.
Using Pilates principles, mindfulness, the heat, and H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training) this low-impact class will strengthen your whole body safely, and keep your heart rate up while helping you burn fat and boost your metabolism!
With fun and motivational music, 60 minutes will fly by! Within a few classes you will see the benefits such as weight loss, a stronger core, increased strength, and less stress.
INTRO TO BIKRAM YOGA
An introduction to classic 26 postures – 2 breathing exercises. Room temperature at 100F and 45% humidity. Each class, we will break down one specific posture and go through details of benefits, techniques, modifications etc. This class is good for absolute beginner students who has no experience with this series or for experience students who would like to focus more on alignments, corrections and modifications. Email us a head of time of posture which you want instructor to focus on YOU. One teacher will conduct dialogue when another teacher will walk around the room and check on students.
AVANT YOGA SERIES
Do you have a regular, well established yoga practice?
Have you developed additional strength and flexibility in your postures?
If you are keen to deepen your experience further, then the AVANT YOGA SERIES is for you. This class will keep you challenged by guiding you through more different yoga style such as Ashtanga, and Bishnu Ghosh 84 Asana. Postures will be held for increasingly prolonged periods of time, stilling the mind into silence. Tentative class on schedule:

AUGUST 5th FRIENDSHIP DAY – BRING A FRIEND TO CLASS FOR FREE
It’s more fun to practice with friends. Bring your friend out and practice together for Bikram and Yin on Sunday August 5th at 3PM and 5PM. Buy one class for yourself and get one FREE for your friend. CHY member, bring one friend out to join your class for FREE.
SATURDAY AERIAL YOGA SERIES 12PM-1PM
Experience different hammock heights for Aerial Yoga. Tentative schedule:

SUNDAY YIN – RELAX, RESTORE, RECONNECT
Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.
Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY GENTLE FLOW $10 DROP-IN 6:30PM-7:45PM
This is a 75 minutes heart felt practice – designed for beginners. We focus on basic postures, body alignment, gentle flow followed by 20 minutes restorative session. $10 Drop In!

LADIES NIGHT OUT – BEGINNER AERIAL YOGA
Have fun with friends while learning basics of Aerial Yoga.
This class is a chance for adventurous women to get together for a fun-filled workshop where we explore the basics of aerial silks.
