Hoa - Founder & Director
Over the years, Hoa has been what some people would call an over achiever turned workaholic. After finishing her B.S. in Physics, Hoa was selected to participate in the Advance Engineering Program at General Electric and obtained a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering. She enjoyed the challenge working in GE then Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Airborne Systems Engineering over the next fifteen years. Most importantly, it was where Hoa met her wonderful husband Jeff. They had the opportunity to work and travel throughout Asia for several years. When her son was born, Hoa decided to take some time off giving him a wonderful early childhood. She had a great time raising her son. However, she found herself missing the day-to-day challenges of the work world. She surmised that this void seemed to be the cause of her unrest-fullness and sleep problems.
Hoa joined her husband’s company and led the technology department. The sleeping problem recurred and became disheartening to say the least. While doing research on insomnia, Hoa came across “Full Catastrophe Living”, a book by Kabat-Zinn focusing on mindfulness; living in the moment, paying attention, and simply “being” rather than “doing.” Kabat-Zinn believes that practicing yoga and meditation can combat stress, pain, and illness. Hoa started taking regular yoga classes. Needless to say, her insomnia quickly improved. But then Hoa discovered that yoga also offers something else. For her, it has been developing the ability to listen to, trust in and follow her own inner wisdom – her personal GPS. Beyond all the poses and the physical benefits of the practice lies this true gem.
Hoa attended nine weeks intensive yoga training and became Bikram Certified instructor. She studied and practiced Bishnu Ghosh’s classic 84 Asanas and attended several other well-known Yoga trainings and workshops including Tony Sanchez’s three weeks Advanced Training in Ghosh Yoga in Los Cabo Mexico. Hoa also enjoys several other forms of yoga such as Vinyasa Flow, Restorative and Aerial Yoga.
Hoa and her husband designed and built Cary Hot Yoga in 2015 to be a full service yoga center open to all levels and disciplines of yoga practitioners. Cary Hot Yoga’s mission is to provide comprehensive yoga instruction to students of all ages and skill levels. Hoa’s alignment and skill-based approach cultivates strength, flexibility, and balance in a challenging and responsible manner. Cary Hot Yoga focuses on individual strengths, challenges and opportunities; providing practice guidance for posture modification and precision. Through this practice, students are guided towards a deeper awareness of the interactions of body, mind, and spirit.
Hoa has always known that she wanted to be involved in the “Healing Arts”. What is a better way to achieve this goal than directing a yoga center to help the community to heal through Yoga! Hoa is proud to be part of the town of Cary – a community of supportive people who share a passion for living lives of true harmony and wellness.
